5 reasons not to settle for less in a relationship
We live in a society that directly and indirectly contradicts the ‘do not settle for less in a relationship’ message. Hollywood, the media and even the people around us paint relationships in a way that looks glorious.
I know how it feels and your emotions are valid. God sees your desire for a relationship. And not just any relationship but a beautiful one.
The type destined and designed by Him.
He’s not ignoring it because he thinks it’s silly or isn’t worth considering.
But He has a plan and a way.
Please, do not settle for less in relationships. You must learn how to wait for God's will for you.
I know it may sound cliché saying this, but the more you find your identity in Christ, your calling as a daughter/son of the King gets clearer.
This is why understanding is very important. Understanding your purpose and calling gives you the wisdom and strength to find your footing in Christ Jesus.
This enables you to know the reason why you cannot afford to settle for anyone or lower your godly standards.
Priests and Kings unto God must not settle for anyone
God’s calling is for us to offer our soul, spirit, and body unto Himself. As kings and priests of God, we were made for more.
As trees and cedars of Lebanon, we don’t go with the wind.
We were made to be wind-breakers, resisting every wind of false doctrines and worldly trends.
The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the WINDS BLEW and beat against that house; yet it DID NOT fall, because its foundation was on the rock.
Matthew 7:24
As we grow into trees, we desire to stand tall in the courts of our God. Our identity is not found in the abundance of suitors or relationships but in the abundance of word we hear and practice.
For he shall be like a TREE planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
- Jeremiah 17:8
Don’t chase after the world. Don’t feel left out or bereft because a relationship isn’t coming your way.
Each of you must know how to CONTROL his own body in HOLINESS and HONOR, not in lustful passion like the Gentiles who do not know God
1thessalonians 4:5
You are not like the world. You don’t enter relationships because that’s where the wind is currently blowing.
No, you stand your ground and behold your King.
The King's daughter is all glorious within; Her clothing is interwoven with gold-Psalm 45:13
psalm 45:13
The more you transform into Christ, the more your value increases in the Spirit.
Your clothing is interwoven with gold. Not the type that mere men or women pant for and lust after, but the type God uses to adorn those who love Him.
You are God’s temple
God purchased you from your former master so you can become His. And not just His, but His permanent abode. His permanent abiding place.
Heaven did not suffice. God wants to abide in Man!
Man that had nothing to offer. Yet God sent us His Holy Spirit the moment we said Yes to Jesus.
He also gave us a new Spirit Man. It means you are a steward. To keep the Holy Spirit comfortable. To ensure that the temple is kept clean and a suitable place to offer incense unto God.
So please use your body to please God and ensure strangers are not granted access to your body.
Do you see why you cannot afford to settle? Please do not settle. You have a calling, a vocation, and a lifestyle expected from human temples.
Many are called, but few are chosen. Guard your heart and body and don't let anyone or anything defile you.
You must not allow worldly relationships to stir up the wrong kind of love in you.
Don’t let the celebration around you push you into anything or anyone.
Treasures are hidden deep. So a deep man/woman who knows your worth must find you.
This is why you must not settle for less in a relationship
You are God’s city in progress
The primary goal of the Holy Spirit is to transform your heart to reflect Christ. And this plan was before the world began.
Don’t delay your destiny by settling for less. You have an end goal. You have a purpose and the altar of sin is not worth you sacrificing the glory that shall be revealed in you.
This is why you must not settle for less in a relationship.
Delay is not denial
Every delay by God is intentional.
As Priests unto God, you are being set apart for a reason. Priests do not settle for less in a relationship.
God is using this time to refine you and beautify you within.
He is adorning your life with his riches.
It may not be evident now, but as you mature and reveal Christ, God’s glory begins to reflect from within.
Your delay is to build something huge, a lasting foundation that will stand the test of time.
Ask God to give you eyes to see and wisdom to trust him and stay in the process.
God has the life of his Priests planned. He chooses and designs it for His glory. And trust me, you could never do the job better.
Self-control is part of the traits of Priests. And God needs you to be able to control your vessels and emotions before giving you a huge and sacred task like marriage.
Children are going to be born, and you want them to imitate the life of Christ.
He loves you
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
Jesus knows Man is naturally selfish and is capable of evil. It is from our selfish hearts we prefer some people to others and do certain things in the name of love.
So if God who is so selfless and has no variation or capacity for evil in Him isn’t bringing a relationship your way now, then he knows what He’s doing.
Trust Him. He loves you more than you love yourself.
He loved you so much he didn’t hesitate to send his only begotten Son to die for you.
So how much more won’t he give you good things?
He is a good God. He loves you and knows what He’s doing.
God can go beyond your biological clock and do the needful!
He loves a challenge and nothing stops Him. So rest in Him and quit looking at the external factors around you.
He loves you and the cross is enough to prove it.
I know you desire a relationship. I do too. Sometimes the longing feels so deep I can’t deny it.
But my desire to transform into His nature must triumph that longing for a husband.
This is how I keep laying down my life. His constant chastisement toward me further strengthens the fact that God is for me and is so in love with me.
God’s desire to make me like Jesus fuels me deeper into Him.
